Taux : - This is a great fishfinder. I looked at these for months, and decided for the money this was the best product. I was right. I love the fact that I can watch fish change depths on the screen.

Taux : - Humminbird has done it again. The 343C Portable performed remarkebly well. The LCD screen was clear and display was crisp. The unit is loaded with features.
The suction cup transducer and 15' cord mounted effortlessly to the bottom of my Clacka Craft fiberglass drift boat.
Water temperatures were 34 degrees but this had no impact on the suction cups ability to stick to the surface.
The 343C carrying case provides a stable base and may be placed practically anywhere on your boat without fear of the unit tipping over.
I highly recommend this unit to folks with any boat, canoe and cayak.

Taux : - I am not writing a review for this exact product, but am for a similar one. It failed because of a plastic part that broke. Humminbird will not allow me to purchase a replacement part. The only concession they will make is that if I ship the unit to them they will repair it at approximately 50% of replacement cost. I consider that a bum deal and totally unacceptable. Because of their failure to provide even a minimum level of decent product service I've bought my last Humminbird product.

Taux : - Used unit for roughly 3-months in my Parker 2120 sport cabin. Installation of the transom mount tranducer and speed sensor were not very difficult, but plan angles, location and wire-runs very carefully. Each has its own cable, with a connector that plugs into the back of the LMS-525C instrument. If you have to drill holes to run your cables, the pilot hole will be a rather large 7/8", so plan carefully as I said. I don't like putting holes in a wood core transom that large, so ran my lines neatly above the transom. Since I have an outboard engine, one really needs to look hard to see the cables. The installation guide is fair at best, but more than adequate; just read twice before proceeding! As for the LMS-525C, installation was fairly easy, but also requires a thoughful plan for viewing angle and running your connections, all of which plug into the lower rear of the unit. As far as performance is concerned, I am very satisfied. The transducer supplied works well in most sea conditions at all speeds that I can run in my boat. On occassion, in heavy seas, the transducer will loose contact with the sea floor with loss of depth transmission. However, once contact is re-established, depth transmission is immediately regained. The depth on the display screen will flash immediately, so you will know if this condition exists. However, this happens infrequently, thus I don't consider it a safety issue or a problem, just thought I'd mention. Prop wash has never impacted my unit. All features work as advertied, but paging through the numerous menu options will take getting used to. Overall, the instructions were reasonable. I do use the NMEA 0183 output, and found tech support helpful in linking to a distress locator feature in my Raymarine VHF radio. This year I am installing an autopilot and expect to tie-in NMEA connections as well. So far, I am very satisfied with my unit, but can't speak to its longevity yet. For the price, do your research in this regard. My inability to opine on this point is why I only gave 4-stars. Good luck!

Taux : - This is a simple fishfinder that finds fish. Bottom line. And isn't that what a fish finder is all about. I can see a 1/2 o.z. jig at 120 feet with this exact model. It bugs me when people write reviews that just say,"It sucks". What sucks (besides your stupid review)? Bottom line, try finding one for under 140.00 (slim chance). this is a good fish finder for the entry level fisherman who has never used electronics.

Taux : - Great for depth monitoring which is my main use. Critical for crabbing on ever changing ocean bay bottoms. Excellent color screen visibility in all lighting, user friendly (on screen instruction) and many menu options for your own preferences. Good sensitivity. Could use a better instruction manual but on screen info really helps. Tells you what type of fish and at what depth they run. Good bottom info and can filter weeds. I recommend this product for those who don't need all the generally useless bells and whistles. A great price for a quality product.

Taux : - I bought this for geo-caching. I actually decided to go Lowrance because I have another that I use for the car and liked that one. I hate this iFinder GPS. It is so hard to use and the directions are completely confusing.
I did look into Tom Tom and theirs can used for driving directions as well as for entering the latitudes and longitudes...

Taux : - This is my second Lowrance GPS. The iFINDER Go2 is a good gps for the money. It picked up the sattelites quickly including WAAS. Excellent battery life. Easy to use but the screen could be bigger. I would buy another GPS from Lowrance.

Taux : - Not bad for the price. This unit works as advertised and is a very useful tool. The main drawback for me is the size of the display but that would be the same for any hand held model. It would also be nice if the 12 volt power cord was included instead of having to be purchased separately.

Taux : - This unit seemed to have the best standard lake shoreline maps compared to Garmin and Magellan units I've tried. It is great on batteries and meets nearly all our needs. I'd love to be able to upload waypoints, but none of the inexpensive handhelds allow that. For us older folk, the screen could be a lot bigger, but I guess that's what glasses are for. For our marine construction business, it is perfect. Accuracy of all the units is about the same, and operation is unique to the manufacturer you are looking at. Once you learn the screens, you are good to go.

Taux : - I just needed a GPS that could use UTM coordinates ..the Go2 and a competitor both were able to and the price was the same. The only real difference is that the Go2 had maps with cities, streets, exit signs, lakes included (hard coded into the system and no capability to add or change or update) and the other GPS unit did not.

The Good: Use is easy. Works pretty good when going for a walk. Kept showing the direction in which I was walking and accurate. Can set a lot of waypoints and has a decent amount of memory. Great price.

The Bad: While Go2 can access the satellites from inside my home, it can't through the thin sheet of metal that is the roof of my car. With street maps, highway exits, and other automobile-like features I was disappointed that it didn't work inside the car at all. Hold the Go2 out the window and we were back in business (can imagine a few tickets having to use it this way). The other negative thing I noticed is that it locked up on me a couple times. Both times while moving the cursor. The power button didn't even work at this point and had to remove a battery to reset the unit.

Overall, I like the price and the features, but I'm not sure about it's usability, especially in the car.

Taux : - Wow, I knew this was going to be a fishfinder supreme but had know idea how incredible this item is. Very easy to install, directions pretty simple. I cannnot believe the clarity of the screen information even on bright days and the bigger graphics option. The chart plotter feature is unreal even with the standard map but would defintely reccommend the additional chip. For me the lakes west Navionics is outstanding and is most compatible with the display. Great price, great service/shipping form Amazon. Electronic life is good......

Taux : - this gps DF is nice but it comes with no base maps. not roads or nothing. I had to pay navionics 150 bucks for a set of maps that has some local maps but only the more popular lakes SEEM to go into great detail. The fishfinder is great the color is vivid and can be adjusted to different base colors so it doesnt blind you at night. The sceen also prevents glare during the day. I really like the unit but the maps are high and outdated.

Taux : - this unit works vary well and you can purchase extra sd cards for the lakes you are going to go and fish at. Has vary good maps works vary well. The maps even show you the good fishing spots.

Taux : - This is a great buy and works well. That is, the screen is easily viewed in shade and sun. I'll leave the spec tech stuff to others, but mention two small nits. One, the basic gps maps are way too simplistic to use for fishing. You must buy an MMC card (or two if you are going to use this in different geographical locations).

Which brings up the second nit, it only takes Navionics cards, and at least for fishing in Minnesota, LakeMaster has better maps.

Taux : - It a great a valuable piece of equipment. Im especilly impressed with the quality of the color screen and the fact I can see it in the worst conditions. I use it in the Gulf of Mexico and it provides me with accuate information in Depth, speed and also hits the mark with the fish finder. I turn it on as soon as I leave my marina the rivers here are very shallow and I can count on my Humminbird's depth sounder to keep me off the ground.

A great piece of electonic equipment for a very resonable price.

Taux : - I have been searching for a handheld chartplotter where you can string a series of waypoints on the chart and create a route. The Garmins (Colorado and now Oregon) don't do it, you have to set waypoints then select them from an off chart list to create a route.

Yes, for more details you have to buy a chip. A great marine chip for this unit is the Nautic Path which can be found on Amazon for $119.

Taux : - I have had this unit for about 18 months but have used it only 6-8 times - never in foul weather. It worked fine at first - with TOPO downloaded maps onto the MMC card and a Navionics card for marine use. Always locked on fairly quickly. Displayed maps beautifully. Now, after not using it for about 4 months (the batteries removed for safe storage) the unit will not lock onto satellites regardless of how long it's left on or despite performing soft and hard resets. The built-in Lowrance software on it is actually newer than what's on the latest Lowrance software update page - which makes no sense at all. Lowrance's minimum repair rate is $149.95 plus shipping since the 1 year warrenty has expired!! I might as well buy a new GPS - a non-Lowrance unit this time! The price and features are very attractive. But beware, I think it's a very inferior product in the long run.

Taux : - We purchased the Lowrance iFinder H2Oc GPS with some Navionics maps on an SD memory card. We used new Lithium AA batteries with the unit.

Our purpose for purchasing the unit was for use in navigating waterways
between Minnesota and Ontario, specifically the Rainy Lake region.

The unit worked very well, and was very useful for navigating these rocky lakes, with many navigational hazards, such as numerous rock outcroppings, and hazards just below the surface of the lake.

The only problem we encountered was a long delay in downloading/processing map information, if you chose to zoom in/out of your current display. It sometimes took 10 seconds or more for the new screen to load, and if you are using this device as an aid, and travelling across the lake at 30 or 40 knots, the delay was a little unnerving at times, specifically if the lake has a lot of rock pile hazards. And yes, the software states you should not use this device for navigation, it is only an aid.

The batteries we started with lasted all week, and we used this unit extensively all week.

When you arrive at your destination, you need to remember to load the specific map you will use. For the Navionics maps, you will also need to
know the abbreviated file name for the area you want to view. The file names are not always obvious, so make sure you review the software to know what map to load, for the area you are using the GPS. This is a Navionics comment, so we did not add or detract from the GPS review score.

That issue aside, we would probably rate this item overall at a 4.5.

If you are heading to a large unknown lake, looking for navigation aids, and a depth chart, this is a great tool, and we doubt you will regret the purchase. If you are getting older, the screen is a little small, but it is hand-held, and small enough to put in your pocket or tacklebox.

Taux : - This Lowrance GPS receiver has all the features needed for geocaching. Aided by topo mapping software, this device will lead you to any spot you want. To get the same features in other brands, you would have to spend more money. Also, the car adapter comes with the device whereas it is a separate purchase in other brands. We have used it extensively and never had a problem. It acquires the satellites quickly and keeps the signal under adverse conditions such as tree cover. The only small problem is that the road map overlay may be off in some areas by several yards. This is not a big concern since it's the topographical accuracy that is important. This model doesn't have an electronic compass or altimeter; however, for just a little bit more money you can get these features in a Lowrance Expedition C. Not a big deal for most folks.

Taux : - I snooped through a lot reviews, I had specific requirements and this 400c does exactly what I wanted at a great price. I also have a Garmin 478 chart plotter that interacts with this 400c, I am impressed with the color definition. It also see's my downrigger cannon balls and flasher at the depth I have them set at. Shows the fish activity around them. Couldn't ask for more than that!

Taux : - I had to return the first 400C that I installed. It stopped working after 2 days. The replacement works fine, but I wonder about the long-term reliability.

The fish-finding performance of the unit appears to be very good. No complaints here.

The documentation is very basic. It tells how to use the unit under various settings. However, it does not tell much, if anything, about how the user can interpret the sonar readings. Also, the unit is dual beam, but there is nothing in the documentation about when, where, or why you would want to switch between narrow and wide beams.

I give the unit 2 stars for reliability, 4 or 5 stars for operation, and 2 stars for documentation.

Taux : - The Garmin is a good unit. I replaced a non functioning Lowrance unit with the Garmin. It does not have the detail or sensitivity the Lowrance unit had, but I needed a quick cheap replacement. I would wait and spend the extra money for a good Lowrance Sonar.

Taux : - I purchased this last year, and it has been installed on a pontoon boat for a full season. This unit replaced an older finder that was already installed when I bought the boat. Installation was relatively easy with the boat on its trailer. Because we operate on a lake that has many shallow areas, the depth and contour indication is very valuable. Color display inhances the information being presented. The unit also measures water temp and displays underwater objects (fish?) accurately. I have other Garmin devices (auto and aircraft GPS), and this seems to match their functionality and reliability. I have used my Garmin 496 in marine mode in conjunction with the finder, and they provide quite a bit of situational information.

Taux : - I bought this to replace the older ICOM on the bridge of my 46' Ocean Alexander. The installation was a snap and the smaller size is really nice. The transmission and reception quality seem very good and the ability to change channels with the microphone itself is a great feature. I haven't hooked it up to the GPS yet but that seems pretty straight forward...except for fishing the wires around.

I would highly recommend the radio to anyone looking for some good quality with the updated bells and whistles at a very reasonable price.

Taux : - This radio was bought to replace the Icom IC-M602 radios used on board some commercial ships. The problem with the Icom was the lack of RF shielding. This unit does not interfere with any other radios, has DSC capability and great audio. DSC wiring is simple and straight forward. Nice bright display matches Vertex radios and unit is rugged. Screen size is not the largest but shows everything you need without going through menu screens. Solid performing radio. Get black for UV resistance and a cooler look.

Taux : - This depth finder does not have an internal On-off switch so make sure you wire one into it. I also had problems with the readings going haywire after initial installation following the installation instructions to a tee. I had to deviate and mount the transducer much higher than they recommend to get a reading. The readings still goes haywire when on-plane though not much I can do about that.
Taux : - The product was new and packaged in orginal packaging. Condition excellent. We have not put the depth finder in our boat yet, but it looks like we shouldn't have any problems with it.

I don't have the cash or space to store a boat, but there are plenty of rentals around here. When I saw the "Fishin' Buddy" I was really happy. This was exactly what I was looking for.

I was afraid that such an inexpensive product would underperform. I was not disappointed! The screen shows great detail, (on the 110) and when fish were marked, many times I got a bite!

I was afraid of going cheap on the 110. I love it! After using it twice this year so far, I couldn't imagine fishing without it!
